2015 RRSP Spousal Contributions not populating in the T2205 Form

#1

I have found that spousal RRSP contributions made during 2015 don’t appear to be transferring to the T2205 - Amounts from a Spousal or Common-law Partner RRSP, RRIF or SPP to Include in Income. The amounts contributed to the spousal RRSP during 2013 and 2014 have been correctly allocated to the T2205 but the 2015 contributions don’t seem to populate the cell for the 2015 data.

An example;

If a husband made a $5,000 spousal RRSP contribution in each of the calendar years 2013, 2014 and 2015 Taxcycle populates the T2205 with only $10,000, being $5,000 for 2013 and $5,000 for the year 2014. If the wife has a 2015 T4RSP spousal withdrawal for $15,000 I find that Taxcycle allocates $10,000 to the husband’s return and $5,000 to the wife’s return.

On form T2205, the contributions in 2015 field is presently an edit field only (and has been in prior years as well) - there is no calculation for it…next season when we update the form we will have it calculated from the spouse return on coupled returns.

Thank you for your reply Rob. Next year sounds good.

It seems logical that if the field could be calculated then it should be calculated. Less room for operator error that way… :relaxed:
